Weather has to be one of the most fascinating observations we can experience as humans situated on this rock hurling through space. Unless you are looking at the sky when the event occurs it is easy to miss some of the most spectacular displays of color, power and glory.
Many times the right moment to take a photo is mere seconds. Somehow, I feel a great anticipation for what is soon coming when I sit down and wait for the show to begin. The first photo is the first sunrise I saw after moving to the farm. Shortly afterwards, I met a beautiful woman and began taking sunrise and sunset photos to send to her to say good morning and good evening. As the year passed the seasonal color changes looked like paintings of how I felt about life, living in the country and the joy I felt seeing nature at its finest. There were also days I thought God was saying good morning and actually winked at me as I received the gift of another day to live, learn and love.
I hope you enjoy seeing these images. Visitors are always welcome to experience the Northeast Texas skies. Don’t forget to bring a camera, telescope and your favorite munchies. The show times are like clock work.
For reference, sunrise perspective is facing east towards Texarkana, Texas and has the creek lined with trees in the distance; sunset perspective is west facing Dallas, Texas and has the county road, 100 year old trees and camp fire in the front yard. Sunrise towards the right is closer to winter. Sunset to the right is closer to summer. Occasionally, the full moon appears and will take your breath away. I am convinced that clarity of color is a result of being far away from city lights and pollution. The storm cloud formations shown are actual storms that hit the area including two tornado events in the local area. My personal favorites are the images capturing the fog.
