From Jefferson
We got a call from the Texarkana sale barn that some registered longhorns were arriving. Mike asked if I wanted to buy them. My answer was obviously yes; but, I was in Dallas at the time of the sale. Mike accommodated me as a proxy bidder while I was on the telephone listening and responding with instructions to Mike who then interacted with the auctioneer. We missed the first cow because Mike and I did not have our communication down. We were successful for the remaining cows plus a calf.
Herd from Hico
Once we committed to expanding the herd and releasing the Jefferson cows on the back 50 acres, it was time to find a bull and more cows. Browsing around I found a heard in Hico for sale and made a call to get the details. Long story short, the seller happened to be a co-worker of a long time friend of mine. In the end we acquired two bulls, 6 cows and 4 calves.
