Our registered Texas longhorn herd began on January 13, 2023 with the rescue of 5 emaciated cows. Honestly, we were unsure if any of these animals would survive the trip to the farm.
After months of feed, care and prayer, all 5 cows gained weight and became the foundation of the herd today.
Believing these cows would continue, we added our first registered bull to the pasture. Awesome Elijah was magnificent and took to the herd promptly. Through his service, 4 of the 5 cows took pregnancy and eventually yielded 3 new calves (2 heifers and 1 bull).
In 2024, we added 4 additional cows, 1 heifer and 1 calf to the herd followed by adding a senior bull, junior bull, 5 cows, 1 heifer and 4 calves (2 heifers, 2 bulls). Just 4 days after releasing these cattle on the pasture, one of the bred cows delivered our newest heifer calve.

Our Longhorn program has two areas of focus:
- Official Registered Texas Longhorn breeding program. Through this program, we intend to breed and sell this breed to others who enjoy the history of the breed, who desire to own this breed and to display such an iconic aspect of Texas history to the public near where they live, and to enjoy every pleasure of sharing stories about longhorns with family and friends.
- To develop a steady beef supply based on the grass fed, instinctive foraging characteristics of this breed, low cholesterol and great flavored beef processed by a USDA inspected service to enable us to sell and distribute retail cuts to our members.
On January 13, 2023 we found these struggling longhorns just outside of Sulphur Springs, Texas. In need of better pasture and unlimited availability of water, we loaded the trailer and set out for the farm.
Once unloaded, our new cattle took to the west pasture grazing as a group.
Curious about how the cattle managed the pasture through the night, we awoke to find them waiting at the fence to greet us the next morning along with the sunrise.
One morning I stepped outside to thick fog. It was just beautiful. Wondering what do cattle do in fog outside I went when I noticed the cattle coming to the fence. It was surreal to see Moon walk up, her wife body emerging from the murkiness of the fog.
Spring is now approaching and the grass is coming in.

Unfortunately, Elijah must leave the farm. After 12 hrs/wk repairing fences, we understood that once the bulls get a taste of fighting it is very difficult to make them stop.
